The Plug Uglies put up a 6-run 3rd, blowing open a close game to take a 7-0 lead, to cement a round-one win over the Fainting Goats on Sunday.

Starting pitcher Jeff Whitehead was in dominant form, not allowing a hit until the 6th. He was aided by some stingy infield defense that pounced on every ground ball and liner for putouts that just snuffed out any change of a Goat rally.

The Goats scored three late to make the score closer but, as with the Dorian Grays late rally the day before in their loss to the Phils, it was too little and too late.

With the win, the 3rd ranked Plug Uglies now take on the 2nd seed team, the upstate Isotopes on Wednesday at Spec Pond in Wilbraham.
