Wednesday: Wonderboys 8, Dorian Grays 9
Thursday: Phillies v. Plug Uglies, rained out.
It's happened enough times to be an established rule: a seven-run lead is not enough in this league. The Wonderboys learned this in the Wednesday game, and it cost them first place at the midway point.
Playing at the South Hadley high school field, the Wonders broke out to a 8-1 lead after five on an outstanding pitching performance by Nabil Hannoush and some good D. Senior Jacques made a standout play, ranging to make a sliding catch on a pop-up in foul territory behind third.
The Wonders scored all their runs in the 2nd, 3rd and 4th innnings as Grays starter Mike Whately was uncharactistically wild.

But Hannoush faltered in the 6th, and the Grays pounced, scoring 7 off him and reliever Bob Prattico to tie the score. Doug Dagarin, Jay Sadowski and Patrick Johnson had key hits to keep the line moving as the Grays batted around.
In the bottom of the 7th, the Grays scored the winning run without putting the ball in play on 3 straight walks and a hit batter. Pete Jordan drove in the winning run while taking one for the team.
Jay Sadowski earned the win with 2 innings of scoreless relief, Prattico got the loss.
After the game, Wonders manager Larry Pietras said "Another typical fun, close and well played over 50 wood bat baseball game. The league wide parity provides for fun, play-off like atmosphere that is unpredictable to determine."
