Opening Day 2021: Grays visit Wonders, Plugs host Phils, Goats meet Isotopes

Here we go! Opening week is upon us. Let the games begin.

The 2021 season gets underway on Wednesday and Thursday with an action-packed slate of games kicking off our 7th season. After last year's Covid-abbreviated season, we return to a full schedule of 15 games.
It goes without saying that it's going to be great. Even Northampton's own Calvin Coolidge thinks so.

The season opens Wednesday with the Dorian Grays, under new manager Mike "Knuckles" Whatley, squaring off against Larry Pietras and the ageless Wonders™ at Herlihy Field. The Grays, who won it all 2 years ago, had a lot of turnover in the offseason, but don't take them lightly. Scouting reports have that they picked up some talent in the draft.
On Thursday, the Plug Uglies open the defense of their league championship against the Phillies, the team they defeated in the league final. The Phils, shorthanded most of last season, nearly had a Cinderella run through the playoffs before coming up short vs the Plugs in the final, are fully staffed this year. A number of key players who were out last year are back.
Because of a potential conflict in Herlihy, the game has been relocated to Anniversary Field in Holyoke.
Also on Thursday, the league's two most junior teams, Fainting Goats and the Isotopes meet at our newest venue, the School Street Park in Agawam.
All games being at 5:45 p.m.
Play ball!
And may "Coolidge luck" be with everyone.
