From worst to first -- Ageless Wonders™ shut out Plug Uglies to claim TNB+50 crown

Plug Uglies -   0
Wonderboys - 9 (9 inn)

WP: Nabil Hannoush Save: Chris Ciepiela
LP: Steve Walkowicz
The Wonderboys rolled all over the Plug Uglies on Saturday at South Hadley High School to claim their first league title and successfully conclude their Cinderella season.
The combo of Nabil Hannoush and Chris Ciepiela threw zeroes over nine innings, and they were backed up by an excellent defense.
The only scoring threat by the Plugs was gunned down at the plate on a catch-and-throw double play by CF Jim Healy and catcher Andy Taylor.
The Ageless Wonders™ offense chipped away at Plugs starter Steve Walkowicz who pitched 7 full before giving way to Andy Klepacki in the 8th.
Whatever hopes the Plugs hopes had completely eroded in the 9th behind an outstanding run-and-catch by Andy Martindale in LF for the 2nd out, and by SS Tod Garfield snagging a tough grounder and then making a perfect throw to Senior Jacques at 1B for the final out.
The Wonders won 8 games this year to also win the regular season crown. The number of wins this year was more than they won in their first two years in the league, including last year when they endured a 1-12 mark and suffered the tragic death of teammate Steve Loreto.
On behalf of the TNB+50 League, and all its players, congratulations to Manager Larry Pietras and the Wonderboys.
