Welcome to the 2nd half: Wonders best Grays, Uglies edge Phils

Wednesday: Dorian Grays 6, Wonderboys 11
Thursday: Phillies 8, Plug Uglies 11

Fresh off the July 4 break, league action was hotter then the proverbial firecracker with a pair of back-and-forth games that were settled late. When the dust had lifted, the Wonders had taken back 1st place, and the Plug Uglies leapfrogged over the Grays to stake a claim on second place, albeit by mere percentage points.

On Wednesday, the Grays and ageless Wonders resumed their rivalry with the Wonders flipping the script from two weeks ago. Unlike the last game where the Grays came on late to snatch a win, this time it was the Wonders down the stretch. They scored 5 in the bottom of the 6th to break a 6-6 tie.
Chris Ciepiela went 7 for the win, and Mike Whately went 6 in the loss.
For the Wonders, Jim Healy had 3 hits and scored 3 times, while Scott Taylor had a double and triple and scored 3 times.

On Thursday, the Plug Uglies bested the Phillies 11 to 8 in what was described as a back and forth game. Here's Eric with the recap:
On a beautiful night for TNB+50 to return with the Plug Uglies hosting their longtime rivals Phillies. Jon Adolph was the starter against cagey valley veteran Kenny Sloat, and the Uglies waisted no time jumping on Kenny early with 3 first inning runs, with Jeff Cabana plating a pair with a long single to left center (Jeff had 5 rbi on the day).
The Uglies added 3 more tallies in the third, but in typical TNB50 fashion the fiighting Phillies came back with a pair of runs in the third, and 5 more in the 4th to temporarily take the lead.
The Uglies promptly answered back with 5 runs in the 5th, and then held on for a 11-8 win, with Steve Walkowitz pitching the last 3 frames and getting the win for the Uglies.
